About the Ladies' Ministry

Women’s Ministries

Women are a vital part of the ongoing ministry of the West Asheville Church of God, serving in love with a heart that reaches out to our community and beyond.   Women's Ministries include fellowship, intercessory prayer, Bible study, fund-raising, local and world missions, benevolence, nursing home outreach, ministry to all ages including young girls and widows, as well as social issues that affect women.  Dedicated women are making a significant difference in their world by their commitment to invest their time, talents and finances to promote the cause of Christ.

As a ministry our aspiration is to encourage women in discipleship toward intimacy with God, developing spiritual maturity, leadership and ministry skills in the local church, community and the world.  In accordance with Romans 12 we are to offer ourselves as living sacrifices, acceptable and pleasing to God; being devoted to one another in love, honoring one another above ourselves; serving God and our church with zeal, keeping our spiritual fervor; joyfully hoping; being patient in affliction and faithful in prayer; sharing with God’s people who are in need; and practicing hospitality.  Women are also encouraged to be committed to teaching the younger women, as outlined in Titus 2:4.

God says:

For I know the plans I have for you,
plans to prosper you and not to harm you,
plans to give you hope and a future.
Then you will call upon Me and come and pray to Me,
and I will listen to you.
You will seek Me and find Me,
when you seek Me with all your heart.

- Jeremiah 29:11-13

The Women’s Ministry meets once a month for a "Ladies' Night Out" to enjoy good food, fun, fellowship, and faith.  These meetings are typically at a designated local restaurant on the third Tuesday night of odd numbered months, and in an earmarked members' home on the third Friday of even numbered months.  See Joyce Tyson for more details.

When Godly People Do Ungodly Things: Arming Yourself in the Age of Seduction by Beth Moore

This three part study examines why devoted followers of Christ can fall into the traps of Satan. Believers are still subject to Satan's attacks. He is determined to disrupt the lives of Christians, destroy their ministry, and steal their joy. Sadly, those who have "fallen" may not recognize the devil's schemes until they have already been caught in a snare of defeat.  The first part is a warning to believers, while the second part shows women how to prepare for attacks by the Enemy. The third part is directed to those who have been snared by seduction, and compassionately points the way back to God. With 1 Samuel 12:20–25 as a guide, Christians can arm themselves against temptation and learn how to help other fallen believers.
See Joyce Tyson for further details and to register for this Bible Study.

The Ladies’ Ministry has published a cook book entitled Burnt Offerings.   The cook books have over 400 recipes collected from the congregation, family, and friends.  They are asking for a donation of $15.  The proceeds will be donated to the building fund for the new Family Life Center.  See Christy or Vicky for more information.
